For the 33rd consecutive year, EXAME magazine recognized the 500 Largest & Best Portuguese Companies across 13 sectors, and Laboratório Germano de Sousa was the winner in two categories: BEST COMPANY OF THE YEAR and Largest & Best Portuguese Company in the Healthcare category.
The awards ceremony took place today, January 17, at EPIC Sana Marquês in Lisbon. Laboratório Germano de Sousa—100% Portuguese, 100% medical, and 100% family-owned—is a national leader in the fields of Clinical Pathology, Anatomical Pathology, Genetics, and Genomics in terms of innovation, quality, and precision. With more than 550 collection points from north to south across the country, including in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, and approximately 1,600 employees spread across 15 laboratories, the group has continuously invested in scientific and technological development to remain at the forefront of laboratory diagnostics, genetics, and pathological anatomy, and its contribution to the healthcare sector in Portugal is widely recognized.
The team of highly qualified and specialized physicians and technicians at Laboratório Germano de Sousa has, over the years, combined extensive scientific and medical knowledge with research and investment in cutting-edge resources and technology in specific areas such as Precision Medicine and Oncology. The Clinical Pathology Laboratory—an area of excellence for the Germano de Sousa Group—has thus been joined by the Pathological Anatomy Laboratory and the Genetics & Genomics Laboratory, which have further strengthened the group’s leadership position in the national market.
As a research center, the Germano de Sousa laboratories share this clinical and technological knowledge and have currently established two partnerships with educational institutions: Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA Medical School) and Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
