Want to know your baby's sex?
It’s possible to determine your baby’s sex as early as 8 weeks into the pregnancy using molecular biology techniques.
It’s a simple procedure that requires only a small blood sample from the pregnant woman, so there are no associated risks for either the mother or the baby.
When can I take this test?
The concentration of fetal DNA in the mother’s blood increases throughout pregnancy. Although some studies show that it is possible to detect fetal DNA in the pregnant woman’s blood as early as the 5th week of gestation, the later the gestational age, the higher the sensitivity and the easier it is to determine the baby’s sex.
Therefore, it is recommended that the baby’s sex be determined only starting in the 8th week of pregnancy, at which point the test result will be accurate in 99% of cases.
